Home School Association
We will be holding our annual Home-School Association Summer Fair on the afternoon of Saturday 8th July 2017. Further information will follow shortly and will also be sent home with learners.
Our Christmas Social Evening on Friday 9th December 2016 was a great success. The event was very well attended by families of past and present pupils and everyone enjoyed Christmas refreshments, music and games. Pupils had made lots of products suitable for purchase as stocking fillers. Thank you to everyone who came along to support our school.
This term’s H.S.A. meeting was held on Wednesday 30th November 2016. We discussed the events that have taken place this term, particularly the Welcome Barbecue in September. We also finalised planning for the Christmas Social to be held on Friday 9th December. Our thoughts also turned to planning events for 2017 and there were several suggestions made which we can look into. We would, however, welcome ideas from the Meadowside community, particularly parents and carers of our learners, as to what kinds of events you would like the H.S.A. to run in 2017. If you have any suggestions then please contact the School Office and ask to speak to Hayley, Debbie or Kate, or you could put a note in your child’s Home-School book.
Annual Barbecue Friday September 2016
On this sunny evening we were joined by approximately seventy guests including families of children in primary schools, current pupils and those who have attended Meadowside in the past. It was a wonderful opportunity to see many of the pupils who left Year 14 in July this year and to hear how they are enjoying their new college and work placements. Matt and Luke played some great music and Adam and Di ran the Barbecue really efficiently producing some really tasty food. Thanks to our staff and their families for helping to make this event such a success.
Summer Fair – Saturday 9th July 2016
Our first rainy Summer Fair for several years failed to dampen the enthusiasm of those who attended. There were plenty of stalls to choose from as well as a demonstration of Tai Chi and ‘Have a go Zumba’. The rain magically stopped between 12 noon and 3 pm so guests were able to enjoy the Barbecue in our lovely sensory garden and cream teas in our Immersive Theatre. Charlie’s ‘Beat the Goalie’ proved a firm favourite, as did the cake stall with thanks to Phoebe for helping out. We were delighted to receive such a range of delicious, home-made cakes, scones and biscuits and are grateful to everyone who baked so beautifully for us.
It was wonderful to see so many pupils past, present and those who will be joining us in September together with their families. We raised approximately £1,300 which we will be using to enhance the education of our learners over the next academic year through the provision of additional resources and activities approved by the H.S.A. Committee.
Thank you to everyone who helped by securing raffle prizes, contributing items to sell, setting up, staffing the stalls and clearing up afterwards; you did a marvelous job for our school community.
We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny evening for our HSA Welcome Barbecue on Friday 26th September. Our grounds were looking beautiful and families were able to enjoy games of table tennis, football, badminton and goal-shooting. We were delighted to welcome so many of the pupils who have joined us this September, and it was great to see the children introducing their families to their new friends. It was wonderful to see so many of our past pupils at the event; those who left Meadowside last July were keen to let us know how they are getting on, and those who left a number of years ago but still keep in touch with our staff.
The event raised £130 for Home School Association funds.
The first event of the 2015/16 academic year will be our Annual Barbecue which will be held at 5pm on Friday 25th September. This is a great opportunity to catch up with other families after the Summer holidays and is particularly useful for families whose child has recently joined Meadowside School as it is a good time to meet other parents and many of the staff. There will be a letter coming home shortly with further details.
The last HSA event was our summer fair in June. It was another great success and we raised £1650! Thanks to everyone who supported us.
News of our next event coming soon.
We always welcome new members to the HSA, if you would like to find out more about us please contact Hayley or Debbie through the school office.
